The Attig-Carley Nobel Peace Laureate Project Scholarships

The mission of the Nobel Peace Laureate Project (NPLP) is to honor those Americans who have been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and to inspire future peacemakers. This scholarship was created to encourage young people to explore, model, and promote peace in their lives, communities and the world.

Scholarship Details

The Nobel Peace Laureate Project Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors enrolling in a post-secondary educational institution who have demonstrated interest in and dedication to peace through activities, scholarship, or artistic endeavors.

Application Checklist


  1. Application Cover Form
  2. Transcripts
    • High School Seniors: Enclose a seventh-semester high school transcript showing the grade point average (if available).
  3. Letters of Recommendation
    • Submit two letters of recommendation from individuals who know you well. It is suggested that one letter be from an academic reference and the other from a community reference.
  4. Personal Statement
    • Include a one-page statement about yourself and your understanding of “peace.”
  5. Post-secondary Institution Information
    • Provide the name of the post-secondary educational institution you will attend, including the address of the Financial Aid Office (city, state, and zip code).

Directions for Award Applicants


Part 1

  1. One-Page Letter (250 Words):
    • Write a letter to the Nobel Peace Laureate Board of Directors about yourself and your understanding of peace:

      Consider three constants in your life that resonate with peace.
      • First: The principles that guide your actions and thoughts for peace.
      • Second: The vision that shapes your thoughts into actions for peace.
      • Third: Individual action(s) you have taken to promote peace in your community and/or beyond.
  2. Include a copy of your school transcript with your letter.
  3. Deadline: Submit your application by May 31, 2025 (Postmarked by this date).

Part 2

  1. Letters of Recommendation (150-250 Words Each):
    • Ask two adults (not related to you) who know you well to write on the recommendation form why they think you should be considered for this scholarship. One recommendation could be from a teacher, the other from a community member.
    • Provide each a copy of the Scholarship Recommendation form.
  2. Stamped Envelope:
