Nobel Peace Laureate Project

Honoring and Inspiring Peacemakers

2007 — Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States

2007 — Al Gore, former Vice President of the United States

Since his earliest days in the U. S. Congress 30 years ago, Al Gore has been the leading advocate for confronting the threat of global warming.

Mr. Gore was honored for his efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change, and to lay the foundations for the measures that are needed to counteract such change.

The future is knocking at our door right now. Make no mistake, the next generation will ask us one of two questions. Either they will ask: “What were you thinking; why didn’t you act?”

Or they will ask instead: “How did you find the moral courage to rise and successfully resolve a crisis that so many said was impossible to solve? ”
